The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has given the green light for a significant hike in electricity tariffs (over 300%) for customers under Band A Only. Musliu Oseni, the Vice Chairman of NERC, disclosed that customers within this category will now be billed at N225 per kilowatt-hour (KW/h), marking a notable increase from the previous rate of N66.
Here are the available bands and how much light they get.
Band A encompasses customers who benefit from a robust 20-24 hours of electricity supply daily.
Band B enjoy 16 to 20 hours of power supply.
Band C receives 12 to 16 hours daily.
Band D subscribers receive a moderate eight to 12 hours of power supply each day,
Band E subscribers receive the lowest quota of electricity, with only 4 to 8 hours of supply daily.
However, one band has just come to light as it was not announced earlier. It is called Band Omenma. Customers you are on this line receive 24 hours non-stop power supply direct from the solar power generation station.
