How Do People Actually Relax on a Saturday?

Ah, Saturday—the holy grail of the weekend. The day when the stress of the week is supposed to melt away, leaving us in a state of blissful relaxation. Or at least, that’s the theory. But if you really think about it, how do people actually relax on a Saturday? Because from what Omenma Hotels has observed, “relaxation” means different things to different people, and half the time, it doesn’t even look relaxing at all.

The Hustle-While-Relaxing Crowd

Some people treat Saturday like another workday—just without the office. They wake up early on purpose (a crime, if you ask me), go to the gym, run errands, clean the house, and then proudly say, “I had such a productive Saturday!” But is that relaxation? Sweating at the gym, chasing after market sellers for fresh tomatoes, and scrubbing bathrooms with industrial-grade detergent? Sounds like hard labor to me.

The “Soft Life” Practitioners

Then we have the soft-life gang. Their Saturday starts at 11 a.m. with stretch yawns, Instagram scrolling, and a slow migration to brunch. They order the leftover overpriced pizza from Friday night, sip coke, and take aesthetically pleasing photos with captions like “Self-care Saturdays 💕.” No stress, no wahala—just vibes. But deep down, I always wonder: is this really relaxation, or is it just performance relaxation for social media?

The Homebody Philosophers

Some people claim their ideal Saturday is staying home, watching movies, and doing absolutely nothing. On the surface, this sounds like peak relaxation, but if you dig deeper, these same people end up spending the whole day scrolling through their phones, debating on Twitter, and arguing with imaginary opponents in the comment section. Before they know it, it’s 8 p.m., and they’re suddenly depressed because “the weekend is almost over.” How is that relaxing?

The Party Warriors

For some, relaxation means releasing stress at the nearest club, bar, or wedding reception. These people start their Saturday at 10 p.m., and by 4 a.m., they are dancing barefoot on the floor, sweating like they just finished a marathon, and shouting, “Dorime. We outside!” Are they relaxing or simply resetting stress for Monday?

So, What Does Relaxation Even Mean?

Maybe the real question is: Do people actually know how to relax? Or are we just filling up our Saturdays with different activities and calling it relaxation? Because if you truly think about it, sometimes doing nothing feels lazy, doing too much feels stressful, and trying to find the “perfect” way to relax feels like another job.

So tell me—how do you relax on a Saturday?
