An Interview With The King
To better understand the drive behind the superb hospitality statement called Omenma Hotels, I caught up and had a talk with the founder, Chief Hon. Dr. M. C. Oguh.
“As a Chartered Management Accountant and consultant, I have consulted for many hotels in the past, mainly in the United Kingdom. I have always had interest in bringing something to the doorsteps of Mbaise nation, in turn creating both direct and indirect opportunities for our youths at home as not everyone likes to seek employment in the city. I am a passionate Mbaise man and always put Mbaise first; I was given a lot of opportunities to build the hotel in Abuja (Nigeria’s capital), Owerri (the state capital) and other surrounding cities in the southeast, but I declined and insisted on building it closer home so that everyone would benefit from it one way or the other.
My inspiration is the passion to create a warm, welcoming environment for our Mbaise nation, home and abroad, comparable to what you will see and get in major cities around the world. Omenma Hotel was designed to compete with or surpass many of the hotels you will see in the city centres today.”
“In any organisation, first impression matters, and as a result, I want every guest to feel at home the moment they arrive in the hotel. I am used to that level of qualities and glamour in Europe that I have in mind to replicate them, hence our rooms are perfectly and glamourously presented. Since electricity is the biggest problem of many businesses in Nigeria, I went further, rejected the poor state-provided electricity in the hotel and chose a solar-powered energy supply supported by two powerful standby soundproofs.”
“It is always said, “Charity begins at home”, and in our Igbo adage, “Akurulo” (Wealth should be felt at home). We develop other cities in Nigeria, so why can’t we do the same in our motherland, Mbaise? It has always been my preference to start the Company’s fully owned first hospitality setup in Mbaise; this view is bourne out of a campaign visit in Nnewi, Anambra (a neighbouring state), to be precise, where I see villages upon villages with many vibrant businesses set up and operated in that one local govt alone, I thought to myself, yes my first Nigeria business venture will be in my home town, that dream have come true today. By the grace of God almighty, we will continue to expand our coast in Mbaise nation.”
“The Hotel has surpassed my expectation since the day we opened for business. During December, January, the hotel rooms are booked full to capacity and at none peak time, the hotel is also doing very well even though we are situated in a low-density, rural setting.”
Premium Hospitality in a Serene Environment
Omenma Hotel ha 3 classes of rooms Standard Rooms (2 units), Deluxe Rooms (7 units), Executive Rooms (33 units) and Royal Rooms (10 Units).
“We have over 50 rooms presently, and plans for an additional 16 rooms are underway; we have one huge well equipped, standalone event hall with a guest capacity of up to 1500 and additional corporate office for small meetings which can accommodate up to 30 people.”
